Crankset

MRP Camber Cranks @ $300
MRP has plenty of clout in the all mountain and downhill crowds, mostly thanks to the amazing chain retention systems that address the specific needs of such riding styles. Now, MRP breaks into the crowded crankset market and does so with amazing success. They’re incredibly light for DH/AM cranks, thanks to material being removed from the back of the arms as well as the fact that there are no mounting tabs for a small ring. The large profile also means these are incredibly stiff cranks, and would also make a great choice for the growing number of XC and trail riders switching to single-ring setups. Their Podium chainrings are, of course, an excellent match!

Shimano XT Chainset 10sp M780
A high performance chainset from the classic ATB group, using the most advanced 10-speed Dyna-Sys chainrings

Shimano XTR Race Chainset M985 10 Speed
If you expect every bit as much out of your equipment as you invest in your training, then you’re in the right place. The new XTR Race group doesn’t just ask to be pushed at race pace, it demands it.
Shimano’s first-ever off-road double-ring crank rewards those who ride with a sense of urgency.
This new thoroughbred kit is starts with Shimano’s first-ever off-road two-ring race crank, which comes in carefully calculated CloseStep gear combinations to match riders’ individual style, terrain, and horsepower. With Primary Driving Gear choices—not to mention an optional, Herculean 44-tooth ring intended for pros only—the only factor limiting how fast you can go is how much power you can produce.
And despite weighing in under 700 grams, this purpose-built race crank maintains all the pipe billet steel-axle strength and cold-forged Duraluminium durability that XTR cranks are famous for.
It all adds up to mindlessly fast shifting, and gives racers fewer excuses for losing and even more ways to win. It’s not for everyone, but for those up to the challenge, XTR Race delivers like never before.
The XTR Race M985 double-ring crank complements race-day performance with a narrow Q-factor, unparalleled power transfer and CloseStep chainring options to suit racers’ speed and style.

Shimano XTR Trail Chainset M980 10 Speed
After nearly two decades of cross-country race domination, XTR is branching into terrain the UCI would never dare sanction an XC race on. Why? Because trail riders like you have long dreamed of a component group that truly complements how, where and why you ride.
Meet XTR Trail, crafted with all the precision and strength riders have come to expect from XTR, but refocused specifically for the demands of today’s trail riders.
A reconfigured triple-ring crank delivers trail-tuned gear ratios for optimum, all-day efficiency, Bottom line: XTR Trail lets you ride faster with more control over rougher terrain.
The best part is that XTR Trail is the yin to XTR Race’s yang, and together mountain biking’s first family of components offers a broad matrix of fully interchangeable options to tune your ride
Trail Drive Train Systems:
The veritable heart of the new XTR Trail drivetrain is a trail-tuned triple-ring crank crowned with a carbon/titanium composite 32-tooth Primary Driving Gear—the go-to, most-used gear for the widest range of terrain, and the gear your suspension bike was designed around.
Dyna-Sys combines features like quick-shifting CloseStep front gear ratios (think: bigger granny, smaller big ring). Together, Shimano Systems Engineering unlocks performance and versatility never before seen in a triple.
Riders who would otherwise have to pull the ripcord and battle technical climbs from the trenches of their granny gear range can now push farther up the trail in their middle ring thanks to the increased range of a 36-tooth low-end rear gear. The granny gear is still there, you’ll just need it less, and the 42-tooth big ring is more useable and easier to get into than ever before, so you’ll use it more.
Simply put, XTR Trail is the most efficient mountain bike drivetrain singletrack has ever seen
The XTR Trail triple-ring crank delivers all-day efficiency for the widest range of terrain thanks to CloseStep gear ratios, Dual Spike chainring technology and legendary XTR stiffness.

The GXP system captures the left side bearing between the spindle and the left crankarm while allowing the drive-side bearing to float axially on the spindle, thereby eliminating the necessity to side-load bearings during adjustment. The simplicity of installation is refined: once it is tightened to the proper specifications you are ready to roll with a worry free BB. The GXP system uses two bicycle specific cartridge bearings and eight seals for a smooth and long lasting ride.
